The Peoples Democratic Party in Taraba State on Monday affirmed former senator representing Taraba South, Emmanuel Bwacha, as the party’s sole governorship candidate ahead of the 2027 election.

The affirmation was held at the Shield Hotel in Jalingo under the supervision of the party’s State Working Committee and officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Speaking during the exercise, the PDP State Legal Adviser, Muhammad Danlami, said the affirmation process was conducted in line with the provisions of Section 87(3) of the Electoral Act and the party’s guidelines.

Danlami said, “In accordance with Section 87(3) of the Electoral Act, where a political party presents a sole aspirant for any office, the party may adopt a consensus or affirmation procedure, subject to the guidelines of the party.”

Speaking after his affirmation, Bwacha pledged to focus on infrastructure development, economic growth and improved welfare for the people of the state if elected governor.
