The organisation said women, children and some of the Emir’s wives were among those abducted during the attack. It also stated that cars were burnt while several homes were left riddled with bullet holes after the assailants invaded the community.
Global human rights body, the Amnesty International, has condemned the attack carried out by gunmen on Yashikira community in Baruten Local Government Area of Kwara State, where several residents were abducted and parts of the Emir’s palace set ablaze during an overnight raid of 25 May 2026.
The organisation said women, children and some of the Emir’s wives were among those abducted during the attack. It also stated that cars were burnt while several homes were left riddled with bullet holes after the assailants invaded the community.
Amnesty International called on the Nigerian authorities to ensure the immediate rescue of all abducted persons, strengthen security in vulnerable communities and carry out investigations aimed at bringing those responsible to justice.
