According to the organisers, the gathering is aimed at pushing a unified “action plan” and policy direction for credible, transparent and peaceful elections in 2027, while also setting the stage for a planned engagement with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) next week.
The Movement for Credible Elections (MCE) has announced plans to convene an emergency high-level stakeholders’ engagement in Abuja ahead of the 2027 general elections, bringing together a wide spectrum of Nigeria’s political elite, including former presidents, former presidential aspirants, civil society actors, labour leaders and former electoral officials.
The MCE in a statement issued on Sunday by its Media Coordinator, James Eczema, said the meeting, scheduled for Monday, May 25, 2026, will be held at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall of NICON Luxury Hotel, Abuja, beginning at 11 am, under the theme: “Actualizing Credible 2027 Elections in Nigeria.”
