The Movement for Credible Elections (MCE), a coalition of prominent Nigerian activists, civil society leaders and pro-democracy advocates, has announced plans to engage the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), presidential aspirants and other political stakeholders over concerns surrounding the conduct and credibility of the 2027 general elections.

The coalition also raised alarm over growing threats to Nigeria’s democracy, including alleged regulatory interference by INEC, shrinking political space, fears of selective enforcement of electoral guidelines and the rising cost of nomination forms imposed by political parties.

The movement disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday after a strategy review meeting held by the coalition.

The statement was signed by Olawale Okunniyi, popularly known as Veteran Che, who is the Head of National Secretariat of the Movement for Credible Elections (MCE), Abuja.
