The Oyo State Police Command, on Saturday, allayed residents’ fears over the rumour of a curfew in the state, saying, “There is currently no restriction placed on the movement of persons or vehicles within and outside Ibadan, the state capital.”
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, who disclosed this in a statement in Ibadan, assured the residents that there are no security concerns warranting panic or apprehension.
Checks by PUNCH Online revealed that residents hurriedly locked up their shops and other business outlets in reaction to the alleged curfew starting from 8 pm.
This apprehension followed the abduction of teachers and students during coordinated attacks on Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Yawota, Community Grammar School, and L.A. Primary School, Esiele, in Oriire Local Government Area of the state, penultimate Friday, around 9:30 a.m.
