The Oyo State Police Command has dismissed widespread reports claiming that abducted students, pupils, and teachers in Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State have regained their freedom, insisting that security operatives are still carrying out coordinated rescue operations to secure their safe release.

In a press statement issued on Friday, the Command described the circulating reports as false and misleading, warning members of the public against spreading unverified information capable of causing panic and disrupting ongoing security efforts.

The statement, signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, stated that the victims remain in captivity while intensive efforts by security agencies continue to ensure their rescue and the arrest of those behind the abduction.

“The Oyo State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that the abducted students, pupils, and teachers in Orire Local Government Area are yet to be released, as intensive efforts by security agencies continue to ensure their safe rescue and the arrest of those responsible for the criminal act," Olayinka said.
