The Oyo State Police Command has dismissed reports of an alleged bandit invasion in Ogbomoso and Ajaawa communities, describing the incident that triggered panic and mass withdrawal of pupils from schools as a false alarm fuelled by misinformation and unverified rumours.

SaharaReporters had earlier reported that panic erupted at Ijeru Baptist Basic School I and III after anxious parents reportedly forced open school gates and hurriedly evacuated their children amid fears of an attack.
A video and photographs obtained by SaharaReporters showed chaotic scenes within the school premises as terrified parents rushed to rescue their children.
