The Kwara State Police Command has dismissed reports of a bandit attack in Oke-Oyi community, Moro Local Government Area of the state, describing the incident that caused widespread panic on Thursday morning as a false alarm.

According to the police, fear and confusion erupted around Government Girls Secondary School, Oke-Oyi, after claims circulated that armed bandits had invaded the area.

The alarm reportedly spread rapidly through the community, causing panic among students, teachers and residents, while academic activities at the school were temporarily disrupted as people scrambled for safety.

In a statement issued on Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the command said it received reports of the incident at about 9:15 a.m. and immediately deployed officers to verify the situation and secure the area.
