Babaseyi explained that the police were working closely with local hunters, vigilante groups, and other security stakeholders to strengthen intelligence gathering and improve rapid response efforts in vulnerable communities.
Residents of Ogun State have been urged to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified security alerts following reports alleging a planned invasion of some communities in the state by suspected bandits and kidnappers.
The appeal was made on Friday by the Ogun State Police Command after reports surfaced that local hunters in Odeda Local Government Area had allegedly raised concerns over threat messages said to have been sent to some communities, warning of possible abductions of schoolchildren.
Responding to the reports, the command’s spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, said the police had not received any credible intelligence confirming the alleged threats, even as security agencies continued to monitor developments closely.
According to him, the command has already intensified surveillance operations and reinforced security presence in strategic locations across the state to prevent any breakdown of law and order.
