Manases Carpio has filed a perjury complaint against former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, accusing him of making false statements under oath during a House hearing last month in connection with the impeachment raps against Vice President Sara Duterte.According to a "24 Oras" report on Friday, Carpio filed the complaint before the Pasig City Prosecutor’s Office. He alleged that Trillanes lied in his testimony at an April 22 congressional inquiry that tackled bank accounts linked to Carpio and his wife, the Vice President, as well as claims that the Duterte family received millions of pesos from a drug personality.Carpio rejected the accusations, saying they were part of black propaganda and were malicious. He denied having any sizable bank accounts and said that he hasn't received money from or been involved with any drug personalities.Trillanes declined to comment on the matter pending a review of the complaint.Under Philippine law, perjury involves making willful and deliberate false statements under oath on a material matter. The Pasig Prosecutor’s Office is expected to evaluate the complaint and determine whether Trillanes should be charged in court. —Sherylin Untalan/VBL, GMA News
