MANILA, Philippines — Two members of the House of Representatives’ prosecution panel on Monday expressed relief that the Senate convened as an impeachment court and took jurisdiction of the articles of impeachment against Vice President Sara Duterte.
In separate interviews on Monday, Bicol Saro party-list Rep. Terry Ridon and Manila 3rd District Rep. Joel Chua said that the Senate Impeachment Court requiring Duterte to answer the articles of impeachment only shows that trial will push through.
“Well what’s important now is that they convened, like what our Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano said, and they were able to present the articles of impeachment, at they issued a writ of summons to the Vice President. So the impeachment proceedings has started moving and maybe we do not have any reason to have qualms about it,” Chua said in Filipino.
