MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Panfilo “Ping” Lacson on Friday belied the allegations of Sen. Imee Marcos about a supposed attempt of the Senate minority to take control of the upper chamber leadership to pave the way for constitutional amendments.

Marcos said this “high stakes” move is allegedly being discussed in a bid to thwart the presidency of Vice President Sara Duterte in 2028.

“Those are flat, outright lies. We never took it up in our caucuses. We meet frequently but never talk about it. Whoever cooked up that tale, we don’t know what they are trying to get at,” Lacson said in Filipino over TrueFm.
