The Coimbatore District Legal Services Authority will organise a National Lok Adalat (People’s Court) on June 13, at the integrated court complex in Coimbatore and at the court complexes in Mettupalayam, Pollachi, Valparai, Sulur, Madukkarai, and Annur.K. Senthilkumar, Secretary (In-charge) of the Coimbatore District Legal Services Authority and First Additional Sub Judge, said that Lok Adalat would be conducted in accordance with the directions of the National Legal Services Authority and the Tamilnadu State Legal Services Authority, under the guidance of G. Vijaya, Principal District Judge and Chairperson of the Coimbatore District Legal Services Authority.The Lok Adalat will take up pending cases including criminal cases, cheque bounce cases, disputes related to bank and educational loans, motor accident claims, family disputes excluding divorce cases, land and property disputes, partition and rental matters, and disputes related to sales, income and property taxes. Consumer court cases and debt collection tribunals would also be taken up for settlement.The cases will be resolved legally and through conciliation. No appeal can be filed against cases concluded in Lok Adalat. They may also receive a full refund of court fees paid for the cases concluded through the People’s court. A special session has been constituted under the chairmanship of the District Judges from June 1 to resolve the above cases.
