TACLOBAN CITY — The provincial government of Northern Samar has ordered adjustments in work schedules and outdoor activities as the province remains under the “danger” heat index category on Friday amid continuing extreme heat conditions in Eastern Visayas.
The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), citing the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), said Catarman is expected to sustain heat index levels between 44°C and 45°C during peak afternoon hours.
The provincial capital recorded the country’s highest heat index at 47°C on Thursday.
