Tristan Brophy grew up in the SA Children's Home in Cape Town.
Ever wonder what happens to the children who grow up in care homes after they leave?
For 28-year-old insurance specialist Tristan Brophy, returning to the SA Children’s Home in Cape Town on Wednesday evening, was a full-circle moment that forced him to confront the reality of how much the home shaped the man he would become.
Today, Brophy lives on a small holding in Sir Lowry’s Pass in Somerset West with his wife. He visited his childhood home to give a talk to children currently living there.
Walking back through the halls of the children’s home after years away stirred emotions he says are difficult to explain.
