Springbok and Stormers winger Cheslin Kolbe is embracing life back in Cape Town, relishing precious time with his family as he settles into the Mother City after almost a decade playing rugby abroad.
The return of Cheslin Kolbe to Cape Town is about far more than rugby.
Following nine years abroad, the double World Cup-winning Springbok will return to his roots at the Stormers next season as he and his family embark on a new chapter together, one where there will be no more six-month goodbyes.
While he is grateful for everything Japan has taught him and the support he received at Suntory Sungoliath over the last couple of seasons, he is looking forward to spending more time at home, doing school drop-offs for his three children and enjoying quality time with his wife, Layla, and their extended family.
“I’ve tried to return a year or two ago, but that didn’t work. So, I am just grateful that there was another opportunity to return home to South Africa, Cape Town, and the Stormers, where everything started for me,” he said in an exclusive interview with IOL.
