The Philippine National Police (PNP) has mobilized tracker teams to locate and arrest Senator Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa, who is facing an International Criminal Court (ICC) warrant in connection with the Duterte administration’s drug war.But what are tracker teams?Under the PNP’s Revised Guidelines in the Arrest and Accounting of Wanted Persons, tracker teams are specialized police groups organized specifically to locate and arrest wanted persons.These teams are formed under the supervision of Task Group Manhunt, which is tasked to oversee operations related to wanted persons.Every police station or field unit should organize a tracker team to pursue "wanted persons and most wanted persons."Each tracker team is headed by a Police Commissioned Officer (PCO) and includes members composed of a Warrant Police Non-Commissioned Officer (PNCO), an Intelligence PNCO, an Investigation PNCO, and a Female PNCO.The organization of tracker teams can be done at the national, regional, and provincial levels.Several investigative and operational units of the PNP are directed to organize tracker teams for cases they handled or filed.
