ILOILO CITY, Philippines — Promoting organic farming not just as an agricultural alternative but as a long-term investment in public health, the Department of Agriculture (DA) Western Visayas officially opened the 11th Regional Organic Agriculture Congress (ROAC) on Wednesday, May 20.
Coinciding with the celebration of Farmers and Fisherfolks Month, the three-day congress gathers farmers, fisherfolk, and organic agriculture practitioners at a crucial time as the region seeks to balance food security, environmental sustainability, and public health.
Running until Friday, May 22, the congress aims to elevate the sector by sharing best practices, addressing local farming challenges, and introducing the latest crop technologies, organic animal feed production, and the innovative “trash to cash” concept.
