MANILA, Philippines — The country will continue to experience cloudy skies and rain showers on Friday as a low pressure area (LPA) and the easterlies prevail over parts of the Philippines, the state weather bureau said.

According to Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), the LPA was last spotted 940 kilometers east of Southern Mindanao, while easterlies continue to affect Luzon and Visayas.

Pagasa weather specialist Loriedin de la Cruz-Galicia said the weather disturbance remains unlikely to develop into a tropical cyclone within the next 24 to 48 hours.

“Although its trough or extension will continue to bring rains over large parts of the country today and in the coming days,” de la Cruz-Galicia, speaking Filipino, added in Pagasa’s latest weather briefing.
