Every time conflict shows up in a multigenerational workplace, we tend to blame age.
We say older workers are too rigid. Younger workers are too sensitive. One generation is too demanding. Another is too traditional.
We asked Alpha Omega Aquino, a subject matter expert on generational leadership, about her thoughts.
“Most of the time, what we call a ‘generation problem’ is really a workplace or a leadership design problem. Different generations are not fighting because they want different things. They are reacting to different meanings, different habits, and different experiences of work,” Aquino said.
