Three 13-year-old schoolgirls have been arrested over a violent incident in the western Peloponnese that led to one of them being hospitalized, authorities said Thursday.

Police said the children started fighting Wednesday on their way to school in the town of Amaliada, and the one was so badly hurt that she had to be taken to hospital in Patra.

All three, including the one in hospital, were formally arrested and faced charges of bodily harm against vulnerable people, a police statement said.

Together with the children, police arrested three of their parents for negligence.
