Richard Akinaka has emerged as the Peoples Democratic Party candidate for the Bayelsa Central Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Akinaka, an entrepreneur, was announced on Thursday as the sole candidate at the senatorial district headquarters collation centre at St. Peter’s Primary School, Yenagoa, which served as the venue for the primary election results.
He was declared winner by the PDP Vice Chairman for the senatorial district and Returning Officer, Mr Bidi Weris, after the conduct of the primary across various wards in the district.
Speaking after his emergence, Akinaka thanked party leaders, supporters and stakeholders for the confidence reposed in him, describing his nomination as a “sacred trust.”
“Our people have long yearned for a steady hope and progress over the years, we have suffered from stagnation, underrepresentation… that era is over now.
