A coalition of northern advocacy groups, on Wednesday, called for the urgent restructuring of Nigeria and a return to a modified parliamentary system amid insecurity in Nigeria.
The group made this call during a press briefing in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, by members of The Rebirth Group and affiliates of Concerned Citizens for Restructured Nigeria, led by Mohammed Lawal, Zonal Leader of TRG North West and President of the Rescue Northern Nigeria Movement.
Lawal argued that Nigeria’s current political arrangement had failed to address deepening insecurity, poverty and unemployment across the North.
The PUNCH reports that scores of teachers and students were abducted during coordinated attacks on Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Yawota, Community Grammar School and L.A. Primary School, Esiele, in Oriire Local Government Area of the state, on Friday around 9:30 a.m.
Bandit and terrorist attacks are also on the rise in many states across the North.
