The Northern Nigeria Governors' Forum (NNGF) and the Northern Traditional Rulers' Council have declared that the worsening security crisis across Northern Nigeria requires "urgent, coordinated, and decisive action" to prevent the region from sliding into collapse, while throwing their full weight behind the establishment of state police as part of long-term efforts to restore peace and stability.

According to the communiqué signed by the Chairman of the Northern Nigeria Governors' Forum, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State, the meeting followed exhaustive deliberations and consultations with key security stakeholders.
