…appoint Martin Luther, Yayale as co-chair
The Northern States Governors’ Forum has launched a Northern Nigerian Security Trust Fund, with General Martin Luther Agwai, ex-Chief of Defence Staff, and Mahmud Yayale Ahmed, former Minister of Defence, as Co-Chairmen, to combat the insecurity ravaging the region.
Speaking at an event in Kaduna on Wednesday, Inuwa Yahaya, the Governor of Gombe State and Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum, recalled that the Forum adopted the resolution at its meetings on 2nd December 2025 and 30 March 2026 in Kaduna and Abuja, respectively.
He said that the members have been carefully selected by the Governments of the nineteen Northern States, adding that ”they are men who have distinguished themselves in their various fields of endeavour in the service of our great country.
Governor Inuwa charged members of the Board to discharge their responsibilities with integrity, transparency, and accountability, stressing that the success of the Trust Fund would be measured by its ability to strengthen intelligence sharing, improve security coordination, and enhance the protection of lives and property across the region.
