The National Democratic Security Reform Coalition (NDSRC), the Gani Fawehinmi Memorial Organisation (GAFAMORG), and the National Conscience Party (NCP) have called for transparency, accountability, constitutional safeguards, and the protection of citizens' rights in ongoing discussions on security reforms in Nigeria, including proposals for the establishment of state police.

According to the statement, Nigeria continues to face "mass killings, kidnappings, abductions, banditry, terrorism, communal violence, and other forms of insecurity," making the demand for effective solutions both "legitimate and understandable."
However, the groups cautioned that "the search for security must not come at the expense of democratic accountability, constitutionalism, human rights, and the sovereignty of the Nigerian people."
