MANILA, Philippines — A bill that seeks to increase the validity of professional identification cards (PIC) issued by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) to five years has been approved by the House of Representatives on third and final reading.
During the session late Wednesday night, House Bill No. 8876 was approved on third reading, with 266 members present voting in favor of the proposal, no negative votes, and only one abstention.
Under the bill, all PICs holders would only need to renew their identification cards after five years — up from the current three-year validity period.
“To operationalize the provisions of this Act, the Information and Communication Technology Service and other concerned office or divisions of the PRC shall complete the necessary systems enhancement, specifically the Licensure Examination Registration Information System, and other administrative processes including the finalization of the revised assessment of annual registration fees, within six (6) months from the effectivity of this Act,” the bill stated.
