MANILA, Philippines — The House of Representatives has approved on second reading a measure seeking to extend the validity of Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) identification cards to five years to ease the pressure of renewal on millions of professionals.

House Bill No. 8876, which was approved via voice voting on Wednesday, seeks to lengthen the validity period of Professional Identification Cards (PIC) that are currently renewed every three years, usually on the birth month of the owner.

The bill provides that all PICs issued by the PRC shall be valid for five years, subject to the card owner’s compliance with existing legal and procedural requirements.FEATURED STORIES
