Greek-made components have been used for the first time in a foreign warship, marking a milestone for Greece’s defense industry, Salamis Shipyards said following work on a French Navy frigate.
The shipyard said parts manufactured in Greece were incorporated into the second FDI frigate for the French Navy, the “Amiral Louzeau,” as part of the construction program.
“This is a milestone reflecting the capabilities of the domestic industry to participate in complex, high-technology defense and shipbuilding programs,” Salamis Shipyards said in a social media statement.
The company said its participation in the FDI frigate program highlights Greece’s technical expertise and its ability to cooperate with major international defense contractors. It also thanked France’s Naval Group for its cooperation and trust.
The FDI frigate program is among Europe’s most advanced naval projects, and Greek involvement is seen domestically as a step toward strengthening the country’s defense industrial base and expanding export opportunities.
