A decision by the National Council for Tripartite Cooperation (NCTS) has cleared the way for an increase in Bulgaria’s minimum pension for insurance length of service and age, raising it from 322.37 euros to 347.51 euros as of July 1, 2026. The proposal was backed unanimously by all participating members except AIKB, according to officials speaking at a briefing in the Council of Ministers.
Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Galab Donev said the adjustment was necessary in the absence of a finalized 2026 state budget law. He explained that the updated figure ensures continuity in pension payments and automatically affects related benefits. “Since we are currently working without a finalized 2026 budget law, a reference amount had to be set to update pensions accordingly,” he noted.
The revision results in an increase of 25.14 euros in the minimum pension level. Authorities also confirmed that the change will extend to other categories, including inheritance pensions and disability pensions linked to general and occupational illnesses.
Labor and Social Policy Minister Natalia Efremova said the measure had received broad institutional support and would proceed to parliamentary discussion. “The issue was examined positively today, with no objections except from one organization,” she stated, emphasizing that the adjustment was agreed in principle during the coordination process.
