Police further revealed that the syndicate allegedly operated with sophisticated firearms and carried out their activities in forest hideouts where victims were held while ransom negotiations were conducted.
The Nigeria Police Force has arrested two suspects, including a son accused of masterminding the abduction of his own father, in what authorities described as another major breakthrough in the fight against kidnapping and violent crimes in Kaduna State.
Police said the suspects, identified as Yusuf Rabo (the victim’s son) and Musa Adamu, were apprehended during investigations into a criminal syndicate allegedly involved in kidnapping, armed robbery, unlawful possession of firearms, and other violent crimes across Kaduna State and neighbouring communities.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, the arrests followed investigations into the abduction of Alhaji Rabo Jelani, an elderly man who was allegedly targeted by members of his own family and their accomplices over claims that he possessed significant wealth and livestock.
The police disclosed that investigations revealed Yusuf Rabo allegedly conspired with Musa Adamu and Ali Haruna, the victim’s grandson who is currently on the run, to orchestrate the kidnapping for ransom.
