According to the police, the suspects were arrested by operatives of the Igarra Division on June 26, 2026, following intelligence that exposed the alleged plot.
The Edo State Police Command has arrested two men for allegedly staging the fake kidnapping of one of them in a bid to extort ₦4 million from his relatives.
The Command disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday by its spokesperson, ASP Eno Ikoedem, identifying the suspects as Lucky Alabi, 48, and Taiye Enahoro, 37, both of Uneme Akpama Community in Edo State.
According to the police, the suspects were arrested by operatives of the Igarra Division on June 26, 2026, following intelligence that exposed the alleged plot.
The statement said the investigation revealed that the fake kidnapping was orchestrated on June 23, when Enahoro allegedly contacted Alabi's relatives and falsely claimed that he had been abducted.
