Police said the operation stemmed from the abduction of three persons on May 11, 2026, at Ipojo area of Iperin, Atan-Ijebu, Ogun State.
Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have killed two suspected kidnappers and arrested a suspected gang leader, Seriki Mohammed Abdullahi, alongside another gang member, Mohammed Bello, during an intelligence-led operation that also led to the recovery of firearms, ammunition, and ₦1.5 million believed to be ransom proceeds.
The Command disclosed this in a press statement posted on its official X handle on Saturday, saying the operation was carried out by its Anti-Kidnapping Unit following sustained intelligence on a kidnapping case in the state.
According to the statement, operatives recovered “one AK-47 rifle loaded with ten rounds of 5.6mm ammunition, one single-barrel gun, the sum of One Million Five Hundred Thousand Naira (₦1,500,000) suspected to be ransom proceeds, several mobile phones, and a black bag.”
