Egypt Opens Applications for Multilateral Research Projects

Egypt’s Science, Technology, and Innovation Funding Authority has opened applications for this year’s Multilateral Research Projects Programme. Egypt’s Ministry of Higher Education says the joint research projects are for innovative solutions to developmental and technological challenges of common interest to BRICS countries – originally Brazil, Russia, India and China but now also South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Indonesia.

Priority fields are water resources, high-performance computing and artificial intelligence, energy, health, biotechnology and biomedicine, food, and materials science. The Egyptian government is making 3 million Egyptian Pounds (about $56,500) available for the Egyptian side of each project for a period of up to three years.
