Sofia is fully prepared to host Eurovision next year, according to Mayor Vasil Terziev, who said the Bulgarian capital is already working on the necessary steps ahead of the official confirmation from the Bulgarian National Television and state institutions.

He argued that the contest’s scale makes Sofia the most suitable location among the candidate cities. “The scale of Eurovision requires it to be in Sofia,” Terziev said, stressing that preparations are already underway while the formal decision is still pending.

The mayor pointed to several structural advantages that, in his view, put the capital ahead of Plovdiv, Burgas, and Varna. These include a significantly larger venue capacity, a wider hotel base, and an international airport with better connectivity and higher passenger volume. “Sofia has a significantly larger hall, a much larger bed base and an airport with a larger capacity and more convenient flights. These are important conditions when choosing a host city,” he explained.

Terziev also said coordination between institutions will be essential, noting that organizing the event will require substantial resources and joint planning between the municipality, the state, and the public broadcaster. He added that external experts will be consulted to assess whether additional infrastructure adjustments will be needed.
