Burgas has officially begun preparations to host Eurovision 2027, with the city facing the challenge of transforming its newest large-scale indoor venue and preparing its infrastructure for thousands of visitors, more than 40 participating countries and hundreds of journalists and technical teams.
The contest will be staged at Arena Burgas, a multifunctional complex designed to accommodate major sporting and cultural events. According to Chanka Koralska, Burgas' deputy mayor for construction, the complex covers about 50,000 square meters, with the main arena occupying around 5,000 square meters. The building has five levels, while its underground volume extends across two additional levels.
The complex includes a large parking facility with two underground and one above-ground levels, providing space for about 1,000 vehicles. It also has two training halls that can be converted into multifunctional spaces.
Koralska said the arena was designed from the outset to accommodate large concerts as well as sports events. “The hall, even with its design, was conceived to be not only a sports hall, but also multifunctional, its technical parameters meet the conditions for holding large world-class concerts,” she said.
