The Anambra State government has dismissed as false, reports claiming that Governor Chukwuma Soludo introduced a new burial law restricting funerals to Saturdays and banning the use of cows and goats during condolence visits.

It was reported on Monday, May 18, that the State government under Governor Soludo introduced sweeping regulations aimed at ending lavish burial ceremonies and reducing the financial pressure placed on grieving families across the state.
According to the new law said to have been passed by the Anambra State House of Assembly, all burial and funeral ceremonies were restricted to Saturdays, while midweek burials were outlawed entirely.
