The Anambra State government through the state House of Assembly has denied claims that it has introduced new legislation regulating funeral rites.
There have been reports circulating on social media that the state has outlawed lavish burial parties and banned the presentation of items such as cows, goats, and other expensive gifts during condolence visits.
However, in a press statement issued on Monday, the Special Adviser to the Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Franklin Osankwa, said the state House of Assembly did not pass any new burial law.
Osankwa insisted that no such bill was introduced, debated or passed by the current Assembly.
