The prosecution is being led by the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Tobechukwu Nweke (SAN), who is spearheading the government's legal efforts against individuals accused of exploiting religion and spirituality to deceive members of the public.

The Anambra State Government on Friday, June 5, 2026, arraigned eight individuals before the Anambra State High Court for allegedly posing as pastors and violating provisions of the state's 2025 Homeland Security Law.

The arraignment of the alleged fake clerics comes as Governor Chukwuma Soludo's administration said it has intensified its crackdown on religious and spiritual operators allegedly linked to criminal activities in the state.

Those arraigned before the court were identified as Peter Chukwu, Chinedu Egwuonwu, Bishop Emeka Nwankpa, Ebele Nnachukwu, Ekeleme Chris Ugochukwu, Ndubisi Nnachukwu, Miracle Iruoma, and Chukwukadibia Ogwuama.
