The All Progressives Congress has cleared several aspirants to contest its senatorial primaries in Cross River State following a screening exercise conducted by the party’s National Organising Secretary.
Announcing the outcome in a statement made available to PUNCH Online on Monday, the National Organising Secretary said the exercise was carried out to ensure compliance with party guidelines and to allow only qualified aspirants to proceed to the primaries.
“We have completed the screening of aspirants across the senatorial districts and only those who met the requirements have been cleared to participate in the primaries,” NOS said.
In the Cross River Central Senatorial District, a key contest has emerged between the immediate past Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Oden Ewa, and the incumbent senator, Eteng Jonah Williams, who is seeking a third term in the Senate.
