The extension of the Thessaloniki Metro to Kalamaria is expected to be completed this summer, and possibly by the end of July, adding 4.8 km of track and five new stations to the line, Infrastructure and Transport Minister Christos Dimas said on Monday.

The construction of the extension, with stations in Nomarchia, Kalamaria, Aretsou, Nea Krini, and Mikra, is expected to be completed in about a month and the test routes will follow over the summer, he said.

The new line will serve approximately 85,000 passengers daily and is expected to further reduce the number of vehicles circulating in the city center by approximately 10,500 cars daily.
