Kalifah Tobias, the mother of missing Angelo Tobias Plaza, and the toddler’s stepfather, Shannon Miller, were questioned by police yesterday as investigations into the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of the two-year-old from his Tobago home intensified. The couple were later brought back to their home in Goodwood Bay, metres away from where searches continued for the boy.The Express observed the couple being taken in an unmarked police vehicle while Angelo’s father, Antonio Plaza, and Plaza’s mother, Meena Balliram, looked on.Plaza and his mother had flown to Tobago from Trinidad earlier yesterday. He told the Express the loss of his only son has been traumatising.“I feel like I am losing my mind. I am not feeling human again. I just want closure right now. I just want to know. I want a thorough investigation. Make sure you do it properly. I have faith in the (police) officers,” Plaza said.He said he had restricted access to his son.“I find this should be an example to be more vigilant of your children,” he said.Angelo went missing on Monday night from his Goodwood Bay home.Land, sea and aerial searches have been conducted for him.Recovery missionThe search for Angelo shifted yesterday into recovery mode, director of the Tobago Emergency Management Agency (TEMA), Allan Stewart said.“We think we are dealing with a recovery, we think this...is not a search and rescue of a person; there is a strong feeling, based on the information that is coming up, that they did confirm they saw a child in the water,” Stewart said.He said: “We continue to be optimistic that a level of closure can be had, and we want to give the public the assurance that we at TEMA are doing all in our power to support the TTPS and the other agencies that are involved in the search.“We would continue to do so with the hope and the plans that we have to bring closure to this incident,” he added.
