Sir, – I read that there is already an overrun of €41 million to make it possible to use a bank card to pay for public transport. I’d have preferred if some of this was spent to make the electronic signs at Dublin Bus termini and bus stops accurate. Is it not possible to know somewhat in advance that a bus is not even on the road? I’ve stood at stops that are 20 minutes plus from the terminus and only when the time comes for the bus to arrive are you informed that the bus has been cancelled. I could go on and on. If you are waiting at the terminus on Abbey Street for the H1, H2 and H3 you can be fairly sure that whatever bus is shown to be next to leave will not be the next bus to leave and whatever bus does leave next will be later than advertised. If a simple and reliable up-to-date timetable cannot be maintained and shown live I wouldn’t trust Dublin Bus with my bank card. – Yours etcJOE GLACKIN,Killester,Dublin 5.
