Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni will visit Cyprus on Sunday to advance bilateral relations, with a joint partnership document expected to be among the key outcomes, the Cypriot government said Friday.

Government spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis told reporters at the Presidential Palace that the visit follows prior discussions between President Nikos Christodoulides and Meloni, during which both sides agreed to begin work on a formal partnership framework.

He said conditions now exist to translate progress in the relationship into a more concrete political and operational plan.

Officials did not immediately provide further details on the agenda of the visit.
