Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has postponed her planned visit to Cyprus on May 17 after a car struck pedestrians in the city of Modena the previous day, injuring eight people.

According to Ukrinform, Cyprus Mail stated this in an article.

An official statement said that Meloni is urgently returning to Italy and will travel to Modena together with President Sergio Mattarella.

The visit to Cyprus will be rescheduled for a later date.

Government spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis said that the Cypriot government attaches particular importance to strengthening relations between Cyprus and Italy, as well as cooperation on both European and regional issues.
