The first University Podcast Festival, organised by the Faculty of Mass Communication at Al-Ahram Canadian University, in Egypt, will highlight women’s issues, especially violence against women and girls, and the power of youth media to raise awareness about such issues.

The festival, called “A Voice That Changes: Stories to Combat Violence against Women”, will coincide with the United Nations’ 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence campaign, which runs from 25 November to 10 December 2025. The campaign calls for global solidarity to end violence against women and girls everywhere.

In a statement, Professor Inas Abu Youssef, dean of the Faculty of Mass Communication, said the festival was “a step to enhance social awareness and positive interaction with women’s issues and society as a whole”.

Fatima Alzahraa Abdel Fattah, vice dean of the faculty, said, “We want this festival to be a space to encourage young people to see media as a tool for change, and to reinforce their sense of responsibility towards their community and its issues.”

The festival was organised in collaboration with of Flamingo Digital Solutions, a digital marketing agency based in New Cairo, and the Digital Media School, an independent platform for journalists and media students.
