The changes cover travel from late July to late October.

It says less than two percent of travellers will be affected, with the "vast majority" still able to travel on the same day.

International routes will also be cut but the company is still working on which ones, CEO Nikhil Ravishankar says.

An airport industry group says further cuts to Air New Zealand's schedule is another blow for the regions.
