A signal glitch in the down line on the west section affected Chennai suburban train services bound towards the Moore Market Complex (MMC) on Thursday (May 14, 2026) morning.A senior official of the Chennai division of the Southern Railway said a technical fault in the signalling system near the Perambur railway station, at around 5.15 a.m. on Thursday, resulted in more than three suburban trains proceeding from Arakkonam via Tiruvallur and Avadi getting stopped between the Villivakkam and Perambur loco stations. Though the railway maintenance personnel subsequently rectified this technical glitch at 6 a.m., EMU trains experienced a delay of 45 minutes towards Chennai. P. Karan, a commuter bound for Korukkupet, said that the train service operating from Avadi to Ennore was delayed by more than an hour. Published - May 14, 2026 11:25 am IST
