Chennai Metro Rail inter-corridor services on the Green Line between Chennai Central and the Airport via Koyambedu were affected on Tuesday (December 30, 2025) morning due to a technical glitch. As a result, thousands of commuters were forced to interchange trains at Alandur station, causing delays and inconvenience.

A senior official of Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) said that certain signal issues along the Green Line resulted in services being stopped temporarily. They were halted during the morning peak hours at 9.30 a.m., and the issue was expected to be resolved by noon as maintenance staff were engaged in rectifying it, the official added.

The CMRL official said that announcements were being made to passengers travelling to the Airport on the Green Line (via Anna Nagar and Koyambedu) to interchange at Alandur Metro station and continue their journey on the Blue Line to the Airport.

While inter-corridor services on the Green Line bound for the Airport have been stopped, services from Chennai Central to St. Thomas Mount and Blue Line services from Wimco Nagar to the Airport are operating normally as per the weekday schedule, CMRL said in a post on X.

T. Sundaresan, a Metro Rail commuter from Thirumangalam, said the stoppage of services towards the Airport resulted in a heavy rush on the Blue Line corridor at the interchange section, with several commuters remaining confused about the disruption.
