Melania Trump Publishes Jumbled Op-Ed Lauding Working MomsFirst lady Melania Trump authored an ideologically jumbled opinion article Friday that at once criticized feminism, lauded working mothers, offered vague praise for traditional values and encouraged women to take time for self-care.“Yes, women can thrive in both motherhood and business. But let’s be honest, extended families and strong support systems are often essential to providing a solid base for success,” Trump wrote in The Washington Post. “That’s why I admire the strength and dedication of single mothers in America, who often handle these responsibilities alone.”She later says it is an "enduring truth about being a mother" that "you make yourself available not just when it is convenient, but whenever your child needs you."The Trump administration, however, has been widely criticized for policies making American life more expensive and driving child care further out of reach for many, as it struggles to encourage U.S. women to have more children.
